[...] Graphic Novel Review - Joey is bringing back GraphicNovelReview.com but different. He will be reviewing one printed graphic novel per week, maybe. The first week is the manga: The Times of Botchan, Volume One by Jiro Taniguchi and Natsuo Sekikawa. The only reason we bring this up is this seems to be another business avenue for Webcomics Nation. There will be WCN ads at the top and evil Amazon Affiliate links scattered throughout the post. [...]

Why not get a Japanese person to fill you in? The translators are originally French or Spanish - so naturally there are gaps as they have a better sense of history than most Americans.

Give it a rethink - eh? Or you can send your review copy to me. - Sparky

[...] Last week’s review also covered a “Volume One” which comprised only a small portion of the whole work. In that case, I disliked the first installment so thoroughly that I couldn’t imagine paying for the other volumes in order to review them (and I myself pay for all the books I review here, as a matter of principal). So it seemed important to go ahead and get the review out of the way, if only to save some like-minded somebody else (my ideal reader, whose tastes more or less match mine) the twenty bucks and the disappointment.
Sounds like the translation's a straightforward failure then. They've simply not chosen anyone competent, at least for literature.
